Training: The fire fighter profession is a high risk, low frequency job, especially with a volunteer department.  For example, we must train to be ready for a structure fire at any given time and on average we see only 3 to 4 structure fires a year in Sherman County. Firefighters at station 2 train together every first and third Tuesday nights at the fire station in Goodland (1006 Center St.). In addition to these regular training nights, many firefighters and fire officers seek additional training in the region in order to improve and expand their knowledge and skills.
